The M1 has resurfaced - and the good news is that it will be here in double-quick time! This near-showroom-ready sporty edition of the new BMW 1-Series was spotted undergoing performance testing at the challenging Nürburgring circuit in Germany.
This week's mag has the first pictures of the eagerly anticipated model, which looks sure to spark a buying frenzy among upmarket hatchback fans when it arrives on UK forecourts next year.
Auto Express was first with the news that the German firm's M division was developing a hot version of the car to rival the likes of the VW Golf GTI and Volvo S40 T5 way back in Issue 755. Not only does the newcomer get bigger wheels and a more powerful engine but, as our photos show, the sporty hatch will come dressed in a distinctive new bodykit, unlike anything we have seen on previous performance BMWs.
Powered by a 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine and capable of completing the 0-60mph sprint in only 7.0 seconds, the hot Beemer is expected to wear 125i Sport badges. This means no return for the coveted M1 marque, which made its debut on the maker's mid-engined Seventies supercar.
However, with tuned suspension and uprated brakes, this 1-Series is likely to remain the fastest small BMW until the arrival of the 300bhp, 3.0-litre M2 coupé, which is expected in two years' time. Although prices for the 125i Sport are still to be confirmed, it's expected to cost from £22,000. The entry-level 1-Series, the 116i, goes on sale here in September, priced from £15,690. It will be joined by 2.0-litre petrol and diesel variants, costing from £17,340.
Meanwhile, BMW says its 1-Series will be compatible with Apple's iPod. The 125i will use of a 2.4 liter four cylinder (as opposed to the base model?s 1.6), make turning and stopping a breeze with performance-oriented suspension and brakes, and be decorated will larger wheels and a fancy new bodykit. This compact hot hatch will be the fastest small Bimmer, capable of blistering 7-second 0-60 times, at least until the 300-hp M2 purportedly materializes two years from now. The 125i Sport will fetch £22,000 in the UK, roughly £6000 more than the entry level 1-series. 2.4 4 cilindri? avrà 190 cv, peccato il 4 cilindri, se avessero montato un 6 clindri sarebbe stato meglio anche se sarebbe costata una cifra impensabile...

Cavaliere la 125i con allestimento sport sarà l'alternativa costosa a Golf Gti. La M2 a 300cv promette bene. Vediamo la gamma Motorsport M2 300cv M4 400 cv M5 507 cv M6 507 cv  |

secondo me era piu' intrigante l'idea di fare la 120i turbo soprattutto per aprità di cilindrata... |

22.000£ corrispondono a 35.000?  salute.....bisogna essere fissati forte per comprarsela! azzz... decisamente meglio la GTi e mi tengo in berta quasi 10.000? |

azzz... decisamente meglio la GTi e mi tengo in berta quasi 10.000?
la Gti credo che verrà proposta sui 27000 euro. Poco in proporzione ai contenuti. |

figa 70 tubi per una compatta , sti cazzi , complimenti a bmw ed al rispetto per chi non arriva a fine mese. con quei soldi mi prendo una rx8.....o un 350 z level one.
