The time for conjecture and speculation is over - BMW's biggest-ever gamble, the wild-looking new 5-Series, is finally here. Its styling represents a bold move, especially in the conservative executive saloon sector, yet the firm is convinced buyers are ready to make the leap. But are we? We put the 530d through its paces - and were pleasantly surprised.

With a 4.0-litre V8 engine, aluminium spaceframe body and quattro four-wheel-drive system, it's no surprise that the latest addition to Audi's A8 range is desirable. As with the rest of the A8 line-up, the car is luxurious, lively and tailored to perfection. Yet it does have a surprise in store - it's the first model in the VW Group to be powered by an all-new compact V8 diesel engine.

Sarebbero molto probabilmente la mia scelta nei rispettivi segmenti. La serie 5 dal vivo mi ha parecchio stupito, molto dinamica e personale.. bella! AMuS ha provato la 530d e ha rilevato 245 km/h di punta e 7"1 sullo 0/100, non male cavolo!
Quanto all'Audi.. non l'ho vista live ma la trovo cmq molto interessante, senz'altro più della serie 7.
