Taking the top job at Fiat Auto would have made Martin Leach a much wealthier man. Last August, Fiat offered Leach, then president of Ford of Europe, an annual salary of 1.8 million euros (about $2,187,000 at current rates), plus a 1 million euro signing bonus, to become its CEO.
