Audi is busy developing the new RS4 around the Nürburgring. The car in these pictures is thought to have a 'non-turbo' 4.2 V8 FSi engine producing around 425bhp.
However, there are rumours that Audi is also working on a 450bhp version, capable of lapping the old Nürburgring under the fabled 8-minute mark. Audi is preparing a seven-speed Tiptronic gearbox for the RS4, utilising its acclaimed DSG technology.
Extensive weight reduction is planned, with many aluminium panels. With deeper grilles and sills complemented by a small rear lip spoiler, the new car continues the traditional RS theme of subtle menace.
Expect deliveries of the saloon to commence some time in the middle of 2005 with Avant versions to follow.

Io non ci vedo nulla di scandaloso, anche perchè la Modena ha (anzi, aveva) meno cv ma era anche molto più leggera. Comunque sia... le RS Audi hanno sempre avuto una caratterizzazione serie, cioè assetti e freni ben dimensionati e non un equilibrio basato più che altro sulla elettronica. Molto meglio questi 425cv su un autotelaio ben immaginabile piuttosto che gli assurdi 476 su un'auto come la E55 AMG priva di uno straccio di differenziale autobloccante.
